Ok here's the deal, I had my ps3 hooked up to regular tv using the supplied cable, rca whatever.I then ?

How do I restore my display settings after plugging in a projector on my laptop?
After connecting a projector to my laptop, the display settings have changed and I have been unable to restore them. Everything on my screen is stretched horizontally and fuzzier. When I go into my display settings to change the resolution, none of the other settings display as it should either. I had my laptop setting set to 1024x768, and all of the other settings with higher resolutions are widescreen so when I set it to display those, the image will look stretched vertically. And everthing still looks fuzzy. Basically, it still looks like the projector is plugged in. I have tried replugging and unplugging the projector and still no luck. How do I restore my display? Right now it alternates between showing the time/date and the battery/signal strength. But on the pictures on the website and advertisements and stuff, it shows the time and then the battery/signal strength as really tiny in the corners (no date). After login, the Welcome page and all the pages do not display correctly. Things line up on the right without the format/table settings. It's hard to read the mails. Are there default display settings for Vista VAIO, 13'; notebook screen?
Regarding display. I don' t know what happened,but my system froze, and I could not restart or do anything, so I just shut the laptop down and then turned it on, everything was running fine. But my display changed. Boxes are wider, letters are blurier, I tried to set it for higher resolution, but then the letters were too small, is there a default for display? I tried restoring, did not work....it did not restore properly, dunno why, also I have 13'; screen and I it says resolution should be smaller, I set it for 1024x768 pixels. How do I make widows smaller, I mean the frame of the windows. Also in display settings there is two monitors, #1 looks wide screen (just like the one I have)-it says Generic PnP monitor on NVIDIA GeForce 7400, #2 looks like a smaller square, YET this one says it is a default monitor on NVidia GeForce Go 7400. Your native resolution on the 13-inch *should* be 1024x768.

I am running some c++ that involves some serious number crunching. In the longer problems, the command line does not have enough room to show all of the answer, and will erase the beginning of the answer before the end is shown. I can't find the projector model you mention in google. Is it the VPL-VW40?
If that is your projector, then your best hook up for sound and picture with these 3 components is an HDMI cable from the PS3 to the receiver and another HDMI from the rcvr to the tv.
There are many other combos of connectors you could use, but that will be the best. The PS3 has to be set to HDMI output, so if you are using an HDMI now you may want to temporarily connect the stock PS3 cable to the tv and see if you get a display that way.

I shoudl warn you that when you do select HDMI Video out, that when your reciever is turned off, the reciever for some strange reason burns 63 watts of power per hour. (About 5.00/month) and the reciever will always run hot.
I have my HDMI picture turned off and it runs very cool, but then again I have mine hooked up to a TV with component only.
Don't adjust the display settings yet on the PS3 till you get the reciever setup, if your still not getting a picture, then adjust the resolution on the PS3 to the native resolution of the projector.

Yesterday I was watching a video on GOM player and tried to use a hot key for the audio (which was ctrl+alt+down). I think that she accidentally dragged it out of her widget panel. On the home screen, there's an arrow on the left side of the screen that opens a little tool bar. Drag the thing into it, and it'll pop back inside it. If you want anything in that toolbar on the screen, you can drag them out too.

Once you see it pop up in the list, run it
Select the drive you want to clean (probably C:) and click ok
It should scan for a bit and then pop up with some check boxes, select all of them that you don't think you'll need. The only one you should worry about is Downloaded Program Files.
After you click OK on the window with the check boxes, you should get a confirmation dialog that asks if you want to delete files. Say yes (or delete files)
If you have system restore enabled, you can do something else to free up some space:
Follow the steps above until you get to the window with the check boxes. Once you do click the tab that says ';More Options'; and then click the ';Clean Up...'; button under System Restore and Shadow Copies.
Please note that if you run the system restore and shadow copies clean up, it will delete all but the most recent system restore point.

I got a dell inspiron 3100 and had it reset to manufacturer settings to wipe everything clean. I never had a virus on it, it just had accumulated so much clutter in the registry that I didn't know no longer what was safe to delete and what wasn't--I got it back yesterday. I was trying to change the display settings to customize it to my needs and I noticed that it stalls. When I want to change a setting it just won't do it and worst of all, I cannot do anything after that and have to turn the machine off manually. Since the laptop came pre-loaded with XP home edition am I somewhat baffled and do not know what to look at--I am thinking that it might just be a setting that needs to be re-configurated, but I don't know which one. I really would appreciate if someone could tell me where to go and what to look for. I am legally blind and my computer is more than just a toy--I have to load a reader software for a reading machine onto it, and am afraid to do so before this issue is fixed.

Why are my XP desktop settings changing on their own?
My XP desktop settings change on their own. I'll turn the machine on %26amp; my display changes from 1152 X 864 (I like this setting) to a larger setting. When I look at Settings in Properties, instead of 5 selections, I only have 2, %26amp; 1152x864 is not among them. I do a System Restore to bring back what I want, but the next turnon changes the settings again. After connecting my computer to an HDTV, the display is stretched. How can I fix it? ?
I know everyone says change display settings.. change resolution... there was a way for me to literally take each corner of the screen and drag it into display.. does any one know how i can bring up this option...i forgot how i did it in the past. i am running vista with a nvidia 8600, however i don't remember if it was through the video card settings or not.. in fact when i try to edit resolutions it only lets me do it for my laptop not my second monitor (my tv). Your TV needs to be set to Full Screen, it's as simple as that.
If it's set to Widescreen then the display size will only be 20 inches wide by 8 inches high.... you get the idea.

Search Google for your monitor make and model and download the latest drivers for it.

yueah, the card can be fine and still not have the proper drivers loaded. i've used really old monitors on newer systems and never had to load drivers for the monitor specifically and ran all direct draw just fine. could be wrong but have been working w/ computers since '78 and never seen a monitor cause the issue you mention, only the graphics drivers.

Maybe you should restart the computer. That might help.
Right click on your desktop and at the top it says ';Active Desktop';, when the menu comes up there if you look down the list you will see ';lock desktop items';. I'll bet you have that checked. Just uncheck it.

Maybe you should restart the computer. That might help.
Right click on your desktop and at the top it says ';Active Desktop';, when the menu comes up there if you look down the list you will see ';lock desktop items';. I'll bet you have that checked. Just uncheck it.

MacBook 13.3'; changing display settings to default?
i accidentally changed the display settings, so i put it back to the highest resolution (1280 x 800) which im pretty sure was the default, and it looks the same, but in applications like firefox and when i play the sims 2 through VMware Fusion their like half normal size. So if i zoom in once on firefox its fine, but the sims only takes up half the screen, and before i accidentally changed it it took up the whole screen.
so if anyone could help me find out what to do to get it back how it was it would be greatly appreciated, and of course there's the 10 points.

Changing Display settings for vista beyond 32 bit?
Hi I have a Lenovo T61 with an Nvidia video card. I think I pretty much bought the top of the line laptop computer available (at least in terms of display). For some reason my version of Vista is set to 32 bit -- when i go to display settings, I can only move my colors from 16 bit to 32 bit -- I think my computer is either capable of 64 or 128 bit (i'm not sure). My question is - how do I increase the colors on my computer beyond 32 bit?
Keep in mind that I have already tried going to display settings and then chaning Colors.

Win98 started in safe mode and now all the display settings are changed and it won't let me change them. Help.?
My computer runs Windows 98. I downloaded something and it restarted in safe mode. I know how to change my display settings. I have always used the 1024 x 768 pixel setting. All of a sudden, when I exit programs or turn on my computer it is at the 800 x 600 setting. I keep changing it back but it always changes back on me. Why would my computer, after all this time, decide that it only wants to use the 800 x 600? How come it won't stay where it's always been at the 1024 x 768? I haven't installed any new software or hardward, so that's not the issue. How can I get my computer to use the 1024 x 768 setting again. Yes, I hit apply when i change and restart, but when it restarts it's back to 800 x 600. If you have really added no new software or hardware (including windows updates?), then you are most likely facing a hardware failure. What you describe, it could be the ram or your video card. At this point I would try to do some troubleshooting. Do the following:
1) If you are familiar with Linux, use any Linux CD distro that supports your vide card (you didn't specify what you have). If you aren't then you can try a BartPE disk. You might have to install drivers for your video card. Boot from that disk and see if it can hold your video settings. If it can, then you don't have a hardware problem but a software one goto #2. If it can't goto #3.
2) Uninstall your video card drivers fully, reboot and reinstall the newest version (you didn't specify what video card you have but goto ATI or nvidia's website depending on what card you have). If that doesn't work, reinstall windows.

I was just wondering..since i'm into graphic arts and photoshop, so color matters and mistakes matter.
So my dad has a mac book that has a very good quality display and shows colors more vibrantly and not too bright. When i look at my art i did on my PC i find the pencil shades that i didnt see on my monitor on my PC -_-;
Unfortunately, my PC/monitor looks too bright and i dont know how to change the display settings to make it look nicer...i've tried going to the settings and whatever...but its always brightness/contrast...when i lower brightness it looks too dark then??

generally adjusting just brightness is not enough, you should start with the contrast setting at the maximum and brightness at a little above the ';comfortable'; level. then adjust contrast down (image will also go slightly darker) until you see clear borders between contrasting colors (black and white, red and green, blue and yellow). then adjust brightness as you need.
i'm guessing your pc monitor is a little older, is it a CRT monitor? old monitors go ';burnt'; with age, their image goes blurry, it's especially hard to see gray contours on a white background (pencil shades). if it's an LCD, it VERY much matters at what angle (especially vertically) you are looking at it.Is there a way to change the settings of my monitor display to look better?
