I used to use a HDMI cord for my ps3, but my ps3 was bumped and fell of the shelf and the hdmi cord broke at the one end of the cord where it is plugged into the ps3. How do i change my ps3 display from hd to sd? I played it on my friend's HD TV and used the hdmi cable. I failed to change it back to sd and came back home to see a blank screen. I tried the hold down the power button trick and it seems to not work somebody help!Ps3 display settings?

Try a lower resolution first like 640x480 if you get a picture start working your way up to higher resolutions. You can't slide the 'slider', but have you tried clicking the scale at the highest end to move it?
Left click your mouse on the desktop, scroll down to properties... click on settings... there should be a slide bar for you to manipulate at this point... slide left for less resolution and right for more resolution.
Be gentle with the bar as you might lock your computer up if you rush the process.

Mostly likely this is caused by an unstable refresh rate for your screen size.

I was on the internet and suddenly the system froze and had to restart. When it restarted the black screen came up asking me how i wanted to restart the system and i chose start up windows normally. I am using Windows Live Messenger with the Live Messenger Plus! Add-on.
Every time I log out of MSN it reverts my display name, picture and any changed settings back to how it was ~1 week ago.

Trouble connecting laptop to television?
I tried to connect my Lenovo Thinkpad to an Insignia TV, I bought a HDMI/DVI cable and connected it, and I turned to the proper input on the TV, but I keep getting a NO SIGNAL on the TV. I tried all the Fn+ commands and tried changing display settings but NOTHING is working. This laptop is pretty old and only has Intel Media Accelerator.

I've just set up my new 20.1' LG 'Flatron Wide' and when I change the display settings to different resolutions it fits the whole screen. The main reasion for buying widescreen was that I could have to 1024 page open at the same time, so how can I make the view so it doesn't fill the whole screen ?

Set the desktop resolution to the native resolution of the panel - probably 1680 by 1050.
Then if you want multiple windows visible on the desktop you need to not maximize them. On the bar across the top of the window, next to the X close icon is a icon showing overlaying boxes. Click on that and then you can drag the corners and edges of the window to make it as big or small as you want.
If you want to open up multiple Word/PDF/etc. documents, then do the same thing, but to the sub-windows withing the application window.

Windows Media Player DVD playback no longer working?
I have the latest version installed and yesterday it was still working fine to watch DVD'S. Today i tried watching a DVD but at times it says that I may not have the proper Codecs installed and at other times it says that i might need to change my display settings.
I've tried changing the display setting but it makes no difference.
I've tried looking for Codecs but all of them cost money. Does anyone know of any free Codec packs or how to fix this problem?

How do you change screen resolution?
My screen resolution, by default, was 800x600 pixels. Today I pressed ctrl+alt+down and, instead of making my screen go upside-down, it just made everything really big. I guess this is a screen resolution problem, but I'm not sure how to fix it. I tried pressing ctrl+alt+up and googled my problem, but it didn't work. I also went to control panel and tried changing the display settings; I'm on 1024x768 pixels right now, but I'd really like to revert to 800x600 sans big chunky display. How to have a TV monitor show in display settings?
I have an M17x Alienware, 280M SLI GPU. I just recently bought an HDMI cable and have tried on two different TV's to do dual monitors. I used a VGA cable before and it worked perfectly fine, both monitors (my Laptop one and my Samsung TV) showed up in Windows Vista's Display settings as - accordingly so - Display 1 %26amp; Display 2. But this was with VGA, now that I'm trying HDMI, I dont even have the option to select another monitor in Display Settings. I also went into NVIDIA control panel and the only option in ';Set up Multiple Displays'; is ';Only use one display (Single).'; I can, however, make my screen laptop appear on the TV monitor by changing the Display in the submenu to ';Samsung'; but that is the only way and when I do that, my laptop screen goes black. I want BOTH screens to work, but it seems that in both Nvidia Control Panel and Display Settings, I do not have the option to do so.
Can anyone help?

My problem is that I have my display image on and I want to change it to a different pic but for some reason it will not allow me to change it to a handful of pics. I was thinking it might be because of the size of the pic but they appear to be the close to the same size. Any suggestions?Why is it that my yahoo ';display image'; well only change to certain pics?

u can add pics to that handful by clicking on browse when u get to the selection of pics. choose ur my pictures folder or where ever u wanna get it from.it will then add the pic to the handful of pics. and then choose from there and make one of those ur default. u probably need to resize the image, though. here's a great photo resizer that's worked for me. u can get the free version of it here:
