I myself don't know too much about monitors so I thought this would be an appropriate question for those on Yahoo Answers. Anyway, I have it set to 1680x1050 atm, and it works great, and looks AWESOME for browsing the web, or looking at pictures, however, when I play movies they seem to be a bit grainy. Not sure if it's the movies themselves, the monitor, or my computer. I never experienced thgis problem with my old 15'; CRT monitor. Also, when I hooked my Xbox 360 up via HD VGA cable, it seems like lower quality than when I had it hooked up to my 15'; CRT. Not sure why, maybe it's that the screen is so big, but just seems really grainy. I went into the Xbox Dashboard in display settings and changed it to a resolution of something like 1360x768 after hooking it up. Any of the preset display's or custom don't seem to help too much. Anyone know how I can fix the graininess? Do I need lower resolution or something?

It's most likely the setting you have your monitor set to. You don't indicate how your watching movies, so I'll just five a few suggestions.
1. DVD plays video at 720 x 480 so the picture is being modified to fit your screen.
2. HD such as your XBox outputs is 1280x1024. Again it has to be stretched to fit your odd 1680x1050 resolution.
Avoid running your movies full screen. The software should create a decent screen for you. Check options if it doesn't
CRT's use a tube to project a picture, and they have always been better at displaying different resolutions.
LCD have indivisual lites for each pixel on the screen. So they display everything nicely at their native resolution but don't look so good when running at non-native resolutions. I assume whatever software your using is changing the resolution away from the Dells native resolution which is giving you the graining picture your seeing. This is the same problem folks who by LCD TV's have when watching non-HD TV or movies.
So to fix:
1. Check the options in your movie software to not run full screen.
I didn't talk much on the XBOX, use the HDMI output. Get an HDMI -%26gt; DVI cable so you can hook directly to the monitor's DVI input. (Will have to disconnect your PC).
I did a quick check on customer comment on newegg for this monitor. It is only a 6-bit monitor using dithering. Several other people have commented on the grainy problems. Gamers seem to like it, but games usually run at higher resolutions that this monitor likes.

I put a screen saver on my computer, and now my display screen is really messed-up..My background color changed for my taskbars, all my colors are not what they were and I dislike the screen saver.. I tried hooking up my HDMI cable from my cable box to my ps3 and it didnt show a picture, so I called the store that I bought it from and they said that you have to manually switch it to display in HDMI. When I try using old monitor, the screen shows display until windows boots, then the resolution is set too high and monitor goes out.
I cannot access safe mode by pressing any f-keys
I even tried using S-video to TV but resolution seemed too high

Entire laptop display as shrunk?
The Text hasn't gone smaller or anything like that, but its like the whole display has been cut down by about ten inches. There's a small screen in the middle, and everything around it is just black. I use vista. Here's how it started, I was playing a game on my computer, it sort of glitched out. I just slammed a load of keys down and then...... well, like i said... it shrunk. I tried going on display settings and changing the resolution, but i cant confirm the settings. There's not enough space on the display for me to click 'ok'. I tried moving the window towards the top and, still not enough room. So even when changing the resolution, i can save it... please help/Entire laptop display as shrunk?

How do I change the display on my monitor?
My system had a virus and I had it restored back to factory settings. I only took the tower thing where I was getting it fixed not the monitor. My monitor is 20'; but when I had it returned and plugged it in everything seems to be set to a 17'; monitor. Web pages don't fill the screen. I have tried altering the resolution but it makes everything massive and fuzzy, Hard to explain, changing the resolution just magnifies what I already have, it doesnt make the page fill the screen.

To set it so that it will return to the login screen after it sleeps or after you return from a screensaver then I believe you either need to go to the power settings, or the screensaver settings. Go into your Add or Remove Programs and uninstall the following:

Windows Live Messenger
Windows Live Sign-in Assistant
Reboot the computer. Use Explore and clean out your \Temp Folders in

I made some (wrong /bad /fatal) changes to my PC, while changing the settings of the [ Phoenix-AwardBIOS CMOS Setup Utility ]...everything is working perfect, the PC is booting-up, etc, etc...but...there is no signal between the monitor and the CPU. I remember changing the settings on the VGA from (auto) to (CRT). I am almost possible this change, was my fatal mistake. I read only 1 or 2 Articles which explains to: Turn-on the PC, Press %26amp; hold DEL, Press F5, wait 5 seconds, Press F10, Press Enter, etc, etc. It is like driving in the dark!!!! How do I change the screen resolution on a dell 2607 lcd monitor without seeing the screen?
I have a dell 26 n lcd tv/monitor hooked up to my dell computer...was messing around and changed the screen resolution in windows (vista). Now my monitor has this bouncing msg that says ';out of range can't display this video mode. Change computer display input to 1360x768 at 60hz';. but it won't let me because I can't see anything. Have restarted, F8 and safe mode, but it only brings up the welcome screen for maybe 1 second before returning to the blank screen with the same ';out or range...'; message.

i had almost the same problem, but mine was not a full screen, it was a half screen, what i did was down sized it, by placing my mouse arrow at the corner of my messenger and sized it to the size i wanted and it stayed, nothing else worked, place your arrow at the corner and drag it to the size you want and see if it works for you

How can I be able to change the display brightness on my Dell Studio 1737?
So, I had done a little digging around before about this issue I'm having, and here's the scoop:
Before I was able to control the brightness of my Studio 17 just fine. It wasn't til I bought a new laptop that I realized that the display on my 17 was really dim. (I used it mostly at night, so that's why I never noticed it.) I opened up the QuickSet and yeah, there was no option for display brightness. Anyway, I had previously looked up this issue, and what I read on some forum, was that upon upgrading to SP 2, it would disable the brightness control. They recommended re-installing the video drivers (which ones are the video drivers anyway? The ones that control the graphics?), but I just wanted to make sure before I started messing with it. I somehow managed to enlarge my screen display size extremely and now I can't see half of the programs that I try to open and everything is very zoomed in and I don't know how to fix what I did.I was installing a new program for my laptop to create a new background and the program was not showing up as the new background so I messed with some of the properties and now the screen size has dramatically increased. I just purchased a used PS3 and have just plugged in my PS3. I am using AV Component Cords to get HD. Do I need to change my definition settings in Display Settings to get the best HD possible for me tv or will it automatically go to HD after I have to cords plugged in. I have Nokia 3230 model, how to change or increase time of backlight display in the samel? help me out?

As given help menu i tried but no sucess. In settings menu there is Display sub menu here Brightness and screen saver time out are the only two items are given. it is of no help in increasing the backlight time and to quote from another help menu'; to manage the dispaly settings of visual radio content you are viewing, press options and select Display settings. Scroll to Lighting, press Options and select Change. Vista Visual Display Settings Question ?
I am using a Vista Home Basic . I have a problem with my Vista's display because of a software called Vista Glazz which I used to try to make my Vista for like a XP because my PC is very slow with the Vista's visual display . As I used , it made my Vista appear like a 98 . Now I am stuck with it . I tried everything from resetting the original setting from the software to all other possibilities . I did everything . I can't change the visual settings from my Vista because it is not allowing me to do so . I thing their is some serious memory damage . Can anyone please tell me how I can undo this memory damage or how I can get Vista's original displays back . I am not look forward for a format . Is their anyway how to recover the original display .

Make sure you're using the correct AV component input cables and that you've selected that option in the PS3's Video settings option tree. Once that has been calibrated GT:P should run fine, do other games work using your current set up?

We have multiple XP users, but why are display settings for one user replicating to the other users suddenly?
We have two users on our home desktop computer (both are set as administrators). For several years, we've always had separate wallpaper and screen resolution settings, but for some reason now any change one user makes happens on the other persons screen as well. This includes wallpaper, screen resolution and saved passwords for logging into VPN access. Any explanations/suggestions on how to fix this? It didn't use to be like this and is really annoying as one of us wants the screen resolution set to tiny lettering and the other wants it huge!We have multiple XP users, but why are display settings for one user replicating to the other users suddenly?

just click on Start, then click on help %26amp; support, and type in reinstall windows and it will give you a step by step, takes about a half hour.

Why does computer screen turn big when I click on limewire?
So when I double click on limewire my computer screen turns black for a couple seconds, then everything on the screen turns huge. I'm not sure whats going on. But I want to fix it but I don't know how. Oh and it stays like this even when i turn the computer off unless I go into display settings and change the size. NVIDIA GeForce 6200 OC?
Hi.
So last week I bought a NVIDIA GeForce 6200 OC (256 MB) vid card to 1) update my comp a tad and 2) it will allow me to play Spore (which I bought on launch day).
I came home and installed the card like the manual said to do. When I attached my LSD flat screen to it, everything was in 640x480 4-bit coloring.
No prob... I know how to change the Display Settings.
Well, the thing is, is I can't can't change the settings for the card.
It just stays in 640x480 4-bit coloring.
I've contacted the manufacture via email (twice).
The 1st time they said I should update the drive.
Did, and nothing was fixed.
The second time they suggested I get an older display driver.
But I have NO idea where to get this.
My question(s), has anyone else had this problem?
And where you able to fix it?
And where can I get old drivers at to try?

So last week I bought a NVIDIA GeForce 6200 OC (256 MB) vid card to 1) update my comp a tad and 2) it will allow me to play Spore (which I bought on launch day).
I came home and installed the card like the manual said to do. When I attached my LSD flat screen to it, everything was in 640x480 4-bit coloring.
No prob... I know how to change the Display Settings.
Well, the thing is, is I can't can't change the settings for the card.
It just stays in 640x480 4-bit coloring.
I've contacted the manufacture via email (twice).
The 1st time they said I should update the drive.
Did, and nothing was fixed.
The second time they suggested I get an older display driver.
But I have NO idea where to get this.
My question(s), has anyone else had this problem?
And where you able to fix it?
And where can I get old drivers at to try?

How do i change my video output for ps3?

What i do is set the resolution way down to 480, and it looks crappy on an hdtv but now you can plug in standard def cables and play it on a standard def tv. When ur ready to go hd again, hook up your hdmi and it should still be standard def, so now set it back to hd. This works for me.....transfer file portray blind characters

Set it up as if you were going to play it on standard def (plug the Yellow/White/Red cables in the TV) and select the proper input on the tv. Now press and HOLD the power button for about 5 seconds. Now the ps3 should display at SD def. You can now go back and change the settings to HDMI but you have to remember to switch your tv to HDMI as soon as you do so. Also I believe the PS3 has an auto detect if the HDMI cord is inserted

I have two 22'; LCD monitors connected to my desktop. The display is set up so that the desktop spills horizontally - each monitor has a different output.
Whenever a new window opens, or an Alert or Confirmation box opens, it always opens in the middle of the two monitors. Half of the window is on one monitor, the other half is on the other monitor.
I have a space between my monitors - my monitors do not touch. So I always have to move this alert box before I can read it.
How can I change my dual display settings, or my Windows settings, so that all new windows and alerts open in the middle of one of my monitors, rather than in between the two monitors?
I am operating on Windows XP 64-Bit.

I am missing the driver for my video controller, I have a radeon x300 series card but when I go and install?

Picture on my new 22'; monitor has turned pink?
I have had my new 22'; moniitor for about a month now and i came home from work tonight and turned on my computer to find EVERYTHING has a pinkish purple tinge / glow to it. Anyone have any idea what could have caused this and how i could fix it? i know its not a problem with the actual monitor because when i bring up the monitor menu to change the display settings the colors are just fine (on the monitor menu). even the text that scrolls when i start the computer is pink. anyone have any idea how to fix this?Picture on my new 22'; monitor has turned pink?
There could be two things. The lamps, or the main board on your monitor. If you want a more accurate and educated guess, I would have to see what it does or a picture of it at least. But there is a strong chance it could be the lamps. If it turns dark after a short while of being pink, the lamps are defective and it's called sunset effect. The coolest stuff ever. If it doesn't go dark, then there is a 50/50 chance. The technician you take it to, if he knows what he's doing he will test every and each part independently before replacement. My cat screwed up my computer's display settings, how do I fix them?
My cat was sitting on my keyboard and she somehow pressed some buttons and changed things. All of a sudden the icons on my desktop and the images in my browser are huge. The band is bright yellow, and is underneath the text labelling the folders/icons. It wasn't there before the display settings got changed however, and I have tried to change it back by fiddling with the display settings but can't get it to go transparent.

I used to only have to press control alt delete to get task manager, now I have to do this which comes up with a Windows Security screen where I choose to Lock the computer, shut down, task manager, etc. Also the system startup and shut down has a different style from the usual Windows XP style blue box, instead its gray. I have a Panasonic 32'; 720p LCD HDTV and the graphics are very blurry (especially when im playing a game) with my PS3. I am using an HDMI Cable. I would turn the Super-White off unless you are 100 % positive your TV makes use of it and will improve the picture quality. I have mine at off.

There is no 'default'. What monitor do you have(size/brand/mondel)? If you push the buttons on the front of your monitor and go to info, it should display the native resolution for your monitor(unless you have a laptop).

go to your My Profile click it.....go to 360- click on it....go to Settings (top right) click it....this should take you atraight to your 360 profile settings....you can change basic info there...any trouble and you can always click on Help up in top right of screen......The Help option really helped me out when I was playing around with mine....lol

How to increase display resolution and screen refresh rate in Windows XP?
I have ruined my two days in order to solve this problem but I couldnot.I am explaining this step by step. Problem is related with Screen Resolution and Screen Refresh Rate.
My Laptop Configuration is
-Gericom First Supersonic PCI E
-Intel 915PM ChipSet
-1.73 Ghz Intel M Centrino
-1 GB RAM
-Nvidia Geforce Go 128 Graphics Card

Ok, Sounds like you have DRIVER issues...
It sounds like you have an integrated Nvidia GEForce Go 6600 128 graphics adaptor (you should be able to tell for SURE by referencing your documentation -- what type of laptop?)
My first clue is that you said that when you go to the Adaptor Advanced settins, everything is unavailable -- BAD DRIVER INSTALLATION... If you've downloaded the latest available drivers from NVIDIA, try using a 3rd party driver... My favorite is Omega drivers (http://www.omegadrivers.net/nvidia_winxp.php). Download the latest driver there (one size fits most, i.e., dont worry abotu versions, just download and install). you should first UNINSTALL your current adaptor and it's drivers... you can do this from the DRIVER tab in the Advanced Adaptor Properties.
Once this is installed, according to the NVIDIA website, you should be able to acheive a resolution of 2048x1536 on a refresh rate of 85 Hz.
You should not need to install or worry about the MONITOR driver... However if your system came with a driver CD, you might consider checking there for one.
Dont worry about messing with nView at the moment. Just get the drivers installed so that you can see the properties and use the right resolutions... nView wont do anything there that regular display settings cant.

Do you find any problem on the button? which control the monitor display setting. If the button has no problem, it could be hardware problem for your monitor.

take it down have it cleaned and the if u have soft were for it do a recovery mode on it
Do you find any problem on the button? which control the monitor display setting. If the button has no problem, it could be hardware problem for your monitor.
