I have an M17x Alienware, 280M SLI GPU. I just recently bought an HDMI cable and have tried on two different TV's to do dual monitors. I used a VGA cable before and it worked perfectly fine, both monitors (my Laptop one and my Samsung TV) showed up in Windows Vista's Display settings as - accordingly so - Display 1 %26amp; Display 2. But this was with VGA, now that I'm trying HDMI, I dont even have the option to select another monitor in Display Settings. I also went into NVIDIA control panel and the only option in ';Set up Multiple Displays'; is ';Only use one display (Single).'; I can, however, make my screen laptop appear on the TV monitor by changing the Display in the submenu to ';Samsung'; but that is the only way and when I do that, my laptop screen goes black. I want BOTH screens to work, but it seems that in both Nvidia Control Panel and Display Settings, I do not have the option to do so.
Can anyone help?

Try booting with the TV turned on. It's a shot in the dark, but worth a try. Oh and don't use Vista's display control for anything that nVidia's control panel can do.

Open up your desired background file in IE or Firefox.
Right click on the image.
In IE, you'll get a message that says
';Set as Background'; - clicking will set your desktop background image
In Firefox, you'll get a message that says:

Go to the start menu, then select control panel. In there you should find an option for appearance and themes. Select this and the choose what you want to change. After each change dont forget to click 'apply' or it will go back to the way it was before when you log off and then back on again
there is no right click as you say everything is left click go to start left click left click on control panel left click on display and the rest is as you see it. I want to change my hardware acceleration on windows vista!!?
I went onto Personalize, Display Settings, Advanced Settings, Troubleshoot. But I cannot click on the 'Change Settings' button. It says below 'Your current display driver does not allow changes to be made to hardware acceleration settings.'

This is driver dependent and can only be changed with a different driver. In the system settings, you can try Advanced, Peformance, Settings you can make some changes. This may help with what you want.

Why is it that my yahoo ';display image'; well only change to certain pics?
I am pretty fimilar with yahoo messenger and how to change settings and all. My problem is that I have my display image on and I want to change it to a different pic but for some reason it will not allow me to change it to a handful of pics. u can add pics to that handful by clicking on browse when u get to the selection of pics. choose ur my pictures folder or where ever u wanna get it from.it will then add the pic to the handful of pics. and then choose from there and make one of those ur default. u probably need to resize the image, though. here's a great photo resizer that's worked for me. u can get the free version of it here:
